Managing the Score Board 1!

The SAISA girls basketball season has started and they had their first game against a local school on the 4th of November at the OSC gym. As part of my Service and Creativity for CAS, I’ve decided to get involved by managing the score board when there is a basketball match held at our gym.

The goals I’ve set are:

  • To undertake challenges
  • To work collaboratively with other members
  • To show perseverance and commitment
  • To develop new skills
For today’s match, I was working with Jesse and Ravin in managing the score board. Jesse was in charge of the score board, Ravin was in charge of noting on the score board sheet and I was in charge of checking the number of foul troubles etc.
Although this was the first time three of us worked together, we collaborated well and everything went smoothly without facing any difficulties. Since I’d done this last year, I already have some knowledge about how to do this job, but I’d like to further take more challenges and develop skills in managing the score board. I will also show my perseverance and commitment by helping out every time there is a game, and also to show an effort and commitment to solve problems when issues are encountered.

Badminton After School Activity

Badminton is one of the after school activities for the second block of ASA, and I’ve decided to take part in this activity as part of my Action in CAS. This activity is organized by Ms. Lenk and it goes on until December. This takes place every Monday from 2:40 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The goals which I’ve set are:

  • To increase the awareness of my strengths and areas for growth
  • To develop new and current skills
  • To collaborate with others
  • To show perseverance and commitment by attending every session
  • To enjoy!
The first session was on the 31st of October, but due to my sickness, I was unable to attend that session. Therefore my first session will be on the 7th of November.

Community Basketball

Community basketball is organized by one of the community service projects at OSC, and we, as the community, get an opportunity to get together and play basketball with people from Colombo (and elsewhere) on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Since this activity apparently goes on until December, I’ve decided to participate in this as much as possible, as part of my Action in CAS. The goals I’ve set are:

  • To increase awareness of my strengths and areas for growth in basketball
  • To undertake new challenges
  • To work collaboratively with others, especially those from outside school
  • To show commitment by attending as many sessions as possible (even though participation is optional)
  • To develop new and further enhance my basketball skills
  • To make friendship with people from outside school through this activity
Some of the pictures from the first session on the 29th of October are shown below:
